The Earl Lathrop bench
Earl W. Lathrop (1924-2018) along with Robert Thorne was author of A Flora of the Santa Rosa Plateau, and also published numerous articles about the Reserve including "Food Storage by Acorn Woodpeckers at Santa Rosa Plateau," "A Vernal Marsh on the Santa Rosa Plateau," "Avian Use of Vernal Pools at the Santa Rosa Plateau," and "Pocket Gopher Damage to Oaks on the Santa Rosa Plateau." He taught botany and ecology at La Sierra University, Loma Linda University, and field stations in Washington and Mexico.
