S-2 ROAD TRIP, ANZA-BORREGO DESERT STATE PARK
MAY 2010 PAGE ONE
Photographs by Michael Charters

Tom Chester planned an excursion to investigate and photograph observed and vouchered specimens of several species of Nemacladus since it appears that this is a very good year for this genus, so I met him, Wayne Armstrong, Mike Crouse, Vince Balch, Jim Adams and Kate Shapiro at a wash along the S-2 just north of Scissors Crossing (which is the intersection of S-2 and the 78). The day consisted of travelling along the entire length of the S-2 down through Box Canyon and on to the Ocotillo area, with numerous stops along the way where we searched for and found four separate taxa of Nemacladus, some beautiful Pholisma arenarium, and many other desert beauties.
