BOX SPRINGS MOUNTAIN RESERVE, RIVERSIDE COUNTY
MAY 2012 PAGE ONE

Photographs by Michael Charters

My goal for this outing was to locate Camissoniopsis ignota which was vouchered here in May of 2006, and for which I have been looking for some time. I found the exact place where the voucher was collected and found a Camissoniopsis species there, but alas it turned out to be C. intermedia. So, another failure and another disappointment in this ongoing search. I will next search the Santa Margarita River Trail where Tom Chester recorded C. ignota. Box Springs Mountain Reserve is adjacent to the town of Moreno Valley where the big M is inscribed on the mountainside. The symbol ^ is for a taxon that was new to me when I photographed it on this field trip, and an asterisk indicates a non-native species.
