JEPSON WORKSHOP: MOJAVE NATIONAL PRESERVE
APRIL 2008

Photographs by Michael Charters

The pictures shown here were taken in the course of a Jepson Herbarium field trip to the Eastern Mojave led by Jim Andre, Director of the Sweeney Granite Mountains Desert Research Center in April. The Center is located just a short distance north of the I-40 that runs along the southern boundary of the East Mojave National Preserve, and is part of the University of California Natural Reserve System, which is a network of natural areas throughout California that support university-level teaching, research and public service. Jim Andre is probably the single most knowledgeable person of the flora of the East Mojave, and he lives at the Center with his wife Tasha LaDoux, Joshua Tree National Park botanist. An upside-down V next to the common name indicates a taxon that was new to me when I photographed it on this field trip.
